'Kushung' from Bhutan - Rarely found, these old tunics are considered to be 'archaic' in design, and predate the current women's traditional dress, or 'kira' or 'kushutara'. This tunic has a wonderful array of motifs in natural colors on silk, cotton and wool on a handspun natural cotton background. Woven in two panels it has a distinctive woven band of patterning that is only seen on these tunics. Unlike some, the neckline is not embellished with added applique. Condition is pretty good, with some holes and soil; not unusual for the age. It probably dates to the early 20thc., though we cannot know for sure. Please write for more photos or if questions.
