Benaki Museum of Islamic Art
Athens, Greece
Some textile hightlights from the collection photographed in situ July, 2017.The Benaki Museum of Islamic Art is an independent facility which houses the Benaki Museum's collection of Islamic art. Some images are better renderings than others. Mouse over each image for a brief description.
Unfortunately, the famous Timurid carpet fragment (pictured below)

as well as other early mainly Anatolian fragments are still not on display. We have been told that the museum is working on their technical analysis and conservation. Nevertheless, this is an impresive array of material with a special emphasis on Ottoman textiles.
