a real flying dragon which has had a world round trip since i bought it end of march 1994 in shigatse. it was many years in a german collection before it came again onto the market in the mid 2000, get published in hali and cross the atlantic. then few month ago it went over the pacific almost back to its original home. this is i think a wonderfull ningxia fragment, the upper part of a pillar rug. it still has kept its original width as shown by both selvedge. the wool is really wonderfull, as are the colors too. free of any repairs it has only few lower spots and corrosion, the pile is mainly quite high. it is most probably from the late 18th c. which is consistent with its elaborated knotting and the whole high quality. 157x 107cm
