Complete three-dimensional nomadic mafrash bedding bags are rarely preserved intact, and individual end panels of this particular caliber are highly sought after by tribal textile collectors. This piece stands out because it utilizes a difficult, "weftless" reverse sumak technique to produce a very fine, tight weave. It features a classic, beautifully rendered geometric "crab" pattern within the stylized hexagonal medallions. The colors are 100% natural, plant-based dyes. This panel dates back to circa 1870/1890. The deep, highly saturated midnight indigo blue, madder brick red, rich aubergine/purple, and soft forest green are definitive hallmarks of high-quality, pre-synthetic tribal dye masters. Exceptional fine weave. Excellent color saturation. Mint condition P.S. This great little wonder is part of my personal collection. It was bought several years ago from my friend Seref who sold it to me after a couple of attempts!
