Well worn carpet from Chinese East Turkestan which appears to have been used as over-saddle carpet (or ‘masho’ in Tibetan). It features an asymmetric designed pomegranate tree-of-life sprouting out of a singular vase at the bottom of the carpet with leaves and pomegranates higher in the main filed. It was made in the latter part of the 1800’s, has cotton warp and weft and the size is 63cm x 117cm (25in x 46in). It has very low pile throughout, but no repairs or reweaves.
