Kurdish Herki Rug, Hakkari Region, 100 x 190 cm (3'3" x 6'3") a finely woven Kurdish tribal rug from the Hakkari highlands on the Turkish–Iraqi border, attributed to the Herki, c. 1930–1950. The grey-blue and madder-red field holds stacked diamonds outlined with bold ivory ram's-horn hooks (koçboynuzu). It is framed by a wide orange main border of serrated blue leaf and s motifs, with wavy-vine minor borders. The glossy, saturated wool shows why Herki weavers are known for their wool, and the back is crisp and even. Both ends keep their original finishing.
