Woven from fine yak wool and dyed in a deep, rich indigo blue, this shawl was traditionally worn by women of the region. The distinctive resist-dyeing technique, locally known as Thigma, creates its characteristic patterned surface. An exceptional example of the textile traditions of the high Himalayan region.
