An exceptional antique gold appliqué and silver Turkoman / Turkmen Yomut / Yomud tribe bridal necklace with the pendent in the shape of the tauk noska motif (double headed bird) . It dates to late 19th century / early 1900’s. The tauk noska is an archaic central Asian motif often seen in Turkoman rugs as a motif ior silk textiles, a protective and ancient motif of the region which probably was dervived from such jewellery. This necklace would have been worn by a bride. The quality of the work is remarkable with intricate rams horn motifs embellished with patterns and polychrom glass insets.
