Antique Tekke Turkmen saddle cover / rug with aina design. Size: 1ft 10in x 1ft 7in (57 x 48cm). Circa 1900. This excellent tribal saddle rug by the Tekke Turkmen of Turkmenistan features an interesting repeat design of aina guls containing the kotchak motif. Note the original decorative tassels. Excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile, some signs of tribal use. A related example with aina guls and kotchak motif is in the Textile Museum Collection, item: 2021.17.9.
