Antique Ersari Beshir Turkmen saddle cover / rug with superb design. Circa 1880. Size: 1ft 11in x 1ft 10in (58 x 57cm). This excellent tribal saddle rug by the Ersari Beshir Turkmen of Southern Turkmenistan, the design is clearly related to that found on a small group of rugs by the Beshir Turkmen. Note the shaped opening for the pommel of the saddle at the top. It is possible that this saddle cover has been repurposed from a small rug.
