Antique Saryk Turkmen chuval face with six large 'Salor' turreted guls.
Size: 5ft 3in x 3ft 4in (160 x 102cm).
Circa 1880 or earlier.
A good Saryk Turkmen chuval face with six large Salor guls, each centred with a 'chuval' gul and two complete smaller turreted guls of the same design, the lower elem panel is filled with traditional Saryk 'flowering shrub' design or 'dancing ladies' as it is often referred to. All of the whites are in ivory wool and the crimson colour in the guls is cochineal dyed wool. The weave is fine; this is an good example of this group of Saryk weaving.
The chuval face is in excellent condition with even wear and medium pile.
