Antique Yomut Turkmen spindle bag, used for the storage of spinning bobbins.
Size: 1ft 7in x 10in (50 x 26cm).
Circa 1880.
a small spindle bag complete with plain weave back, these bags known by the Turkmen as 'Igsalyk' were hung inside the yurt and used to store items used in the hand spinning of wool. This example is in complete original condition with its plain weave back. The design to the face is well known for its use by the Yomut on small bags and chuval.
The bag is in good condition with very slight wear to the face, the back is complete but does have some slight discolouration caused by tribal use.
