Antique Yomut Turkmen spindle bag, used for the storage of spinning bobbins. Size: 1ft 6in x 8.5in (45 x 21cm). Circa 1900. a small spindle bag complete with plain weave back, these bags known by the Turkmen as 'Igsalyk' were hung inside the yurt and used to store items used in the hand spinning of wool. The design to the face is the well known Turkmen tree design. The bag is in excellent condition with very slight wear to the face, the back is complete but has been opened at the sides for display.
