a funky antique silk embroidered Uzbek Suzani from Shahrisabz rural areas, dating between 1900-1920’s. a relatively later example but still echoes the design form of the early Shahrisabz suzanis and rather attractive at that. It has silk chain stitched embroidery on a cotton with silk blend ground fabric dyed with indigo. The field consists of medallion motif and botehs and the large borders continue similar floral repertoire in hot colours. It is lined with an indigo fabric… all original. In good shape with some fading of the indigo ground which somewhat adds to the archaic beauty. size: 186cm x 158cm (73” x 62”). …..
