This antique Qashqai rug from Iran truly ticks all the boxes: it is in mint condition, with a full pile, exceptionally soft wool, and a highly intricate design. This level of detail is made possible by its fine, tight knotting.
The quality of both the wool and the dyes is superb, with a rich use of indigo blue.
It has one minor repair and a small stain.
Material: 100% hand-spun sheep wool
Size: 196×123 cms
Origin: Qashqai tribe, Iran
Date of weaving: 1920s or earlier
