Antique Ersari Beshir Turkmen torba of classic ikat design. Size: 4ft 6in x 1ft 6in (137 x 46cm) Circa 1890. a good example of Beshir weaving, a classic Beshir ikat design with soft smoked earth colour. Note the stars to the central field and the small flowers all around the outside edges. These weavings are often considered to be dowry weavings as they were used to decorate the camel during the wedding procession.
