a very Rare antique Central Asian Silver Satchkhalta / bridal hair dorsal (worn over braided pigtail ). It dates between the 19th Century. While many later examples pop up in the market, they do not compare to great older examples as this piece. The fine quality of the work, the intricate patterns on the silver beads and the delicate manner these beads have been strung suggest these were likely for urban noble families. It is likely the work of Uzbek people of Khiva but can also be that of Tajiks in Bokhara / Bukhara. As this example is by far more sophisticated than typical jewellery of both of these cities.
