a very rare and super fine Antique silk chain-stitched embroidered bag from Afghanistan. Dating to late 19th century this bag was likely made by the Uzbeks on the Afghan side of the border. Both sides are meticulously embroidered using fine silk chain-stitch with rich colours and a dazzling design made up of strips of pattern that flows accentuating the bottle shape of the bag. Some suggest these were coin bags and likely bridal dowry pieces, given to the groom side of the family during the wedding ceremony. Very fine piece of Central Asia textile art that do not pop up in the market often. Worthy of any good collection. Offered at good price. In very good condition. size: 19cm x 17cm (7.5”x6.5”).
