Attractive oval shaped Tibetan under-saddle carpet (makden) with mandala-like medallions, surrounded by simple floral displays, a secondary border with the lovely 'rice grain' pattern and a main outer border with the 'running t' design. Made sometime in the later part of the 1800’s / 19th century, the size is 109cm x 60cm (approximately 43in x 24in), the colour palette is from natural dye and undyed wool, the warp and weft are both wool and all four of the saddle girth strap holes have been incised and bordered with leather and it has no repairs or reweaves. For more photos of this makden please see - https://warpandweft.club/portfolio-item/makden-item-33/ and a somewhat later but rectangular shaped makden of similar design and colours here https://warpandweft.club/portfolio-item/makdens-item-2/
