Antique Baluch prayer rug by the Yaqoub Khani sub tribe of the Timuri, with box design on a scarce aubergine coloured ground. Size: 4ft 0in x 2ft 10in (122 x 87cm). Circa 1880 or earlier. This is a very unusual and possibly rare Timuri / Baluch prayer rug, the well known box design is on a very rich aubergine coloured ground. The hand placements are of a tree or shrub design. Note the original weft work decorated end panel at the lower end.
