It consists of many thousands of items whose provenance ranges from India and Afghanistan, through to Japan, Europe, and North and West Africa. Karun Thakar has been collecting textiles and other objects for over four decades. He is drawn to forms of making and designs that speak of human creativity, skill and artistry across cultures and time. He believes that every object in his collection tells a story about the people who made it and how they lived. In this program, hali Editor Ben Evans elicits Karun's own personal collecting story, how his collection has evolved, his collecting process, and his wide-ranging textile interests, illustrated by examples in his book, "Book of Textiles," his seventh publication to date.
