This circa 1880 antique Caucasian Kazak Oriental Rug #8232 measures 3 foot 10 inches by 6 foot 9 inches. It has three latch hook medallions. The one in the middle is red on an ivory ground. The one on each end is ivory on the green ground. The medallions are on a tri colored ground. One end is blue going to green, and the other end is brown going to red. The entire rug especially the ground is covered with little teeny crosses in white, red, green, blue and yellow that from a distance look like stars. I’ve seen a lot of Kazakhs, but i can’t really put a name on this field design. Look at it long enough and name it yourself! The major border consists of ivory diamonds and different size crosses set on a ground of red, blue and green which separate the diamonds. This is a very attractive border. The rug has 2 minor borders. The interior one is a green checkerboard on a red ground. The outer border has an arrowhead design in red on a blue ground. This rug has a very unique motif. The three medallions going up the center, you see that, but the field design, i have never seen. The rug is lovely and one of a kind. It has complete ends and sides. The pile is good. It is clean and ready to go.
