Size: 2ft 3in x 2ft 2in (69 x 67cm).
Antique salt bag by the Afshar tribe woven in soumak work.
Circa 1880.
This is a superb example of Afshar Soumak work with a diamond Lattice design. The border is of the classic Afshar chevron design. The back is in plain weave madder red colour.
The salt bag is in excellent condition with very slight even wear to the face, the corners show some signs of tribal use and the back has some slight discolouration and some small black stains. i have not washed this bag and i am sure that it will improve with a gentle hand wash.
