Yomut (Karadashli) main-carpet fragment, Khorezm/Khiva region, late 18th century (c. 1760–1800). Wool on wool, symmetric knots, ~5.8 × 7.2 knots/cm (~270 kpsi).
Size 90x40cm
Dated by people who know as 1760 circa
Goat's hair warps
i count roughly 5.5–6 knots
across per cm (horizontal), and about 7–7.5 rows per cm (vertical). Converted
to inches, that puts the weave at about ≈250–290 kpsi, which is very fine for a
Karadashli (Yomut) main carpet fragment. The typical Kardashli in main size is
about half of that (many sit ~90–140 KPSI).
Ready to be mounted on linen, but since the pattern is better seen on the back i leave it to the future owner
