Unique, beautiful and old, Kerman persian rug ( 205 cm. x 138 cm.) The dyes are good and harmonious, the wool is soft with a camel hair background and fine cotton foundation. Uneven wear, some side borders missing, some glue on the back, no repair. Handling is pleasant, sign that it has been woven with much care. The piece has multiple inscriptions deciphered as "Qazan" the name of the workshop, and also "handknotted rug from Iran". This piece has probably been knotted in the early 20th c. as a sample to show the quality of the company's production, with this specific Kirman's american design. Some somptuous rugs from this same manufacture popped at Christie's and Sotheby's in the past decades. Both collectible and decorative, very unusual.
