Antique Baluch-group prayer rug, 213 Botehs on Ivory. 36 x 51 inches. Not the oldest of its type, probably early xx. century. Geometric-angular boteh the single motif repeated 213 times in 21 uneven, staggered rows. Figures and design elements in natural undyed browns and old rose madder terracotta pinks on the natural undyed Ivory field, suggesting that only dye used was madder root yielding reds. Imaginative treatment of niche outline resembling a snake / dragon angular bend around boteh-festooned ivory field. -- Please view my other antique Baluch-group rugs posted on rr and email johnbatki@gmail.com
