Antique Timuri / Baluch camel ground prayer rug with repeat shrub design, from Western Afghanistan. www.knightsantiques.co.uk
Size: 4ft 9in x 3ft 0in (146 x 92cm).
Circa 1900.
An interesting prayer rug with a repeat lattice design of small shrubs, on a camel ground. Note the use of small amounts of yellow as a highlight on alternate shrubs. The light indigo blue used in the inner border really brings the rug to life.
The rug is in good condition with slight even wear and good pile. The rug retains the original end finishes which show some slight wear.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use, or would make a good display item.
