Antique Timuri Baluch main carpet of small size and classic design. www.knightsantiques.co.uk Circa 1880. Size: 9ft 6in x 6ft 1in (290 x 185cm). A good example of a Timuri main carpet with the traditional Timuri repeat medallion design. The carpet probably originates from the area around Chakhansur, in Western Afghanistan near the borders with eastern Persia. The carpet is woven in shades of madder red, indigo blue, olive brown and ivory; the overall colour palette is very warm. Note the very long original kilim end finishes in bands of different colours. The carpet is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile. Stock Number: ds-0709.
