Back
An excellent antique Kirghiz / Kyrgyz silk suzani embroidered squared hanging. It is a relatively early example, dating to 3rd quarter of the 19th Century. Exceptionally precise and fine chain-stitched silk embroidery on a black silk velvet ground. The archaic design is nothing short of spectacular and resemble modern art. The colours are fantastic and all seem natural dyes. It resembles modern art and shows that the Kirghiz at best could match the textile art of the neighbouring Uzbeks in every respect. .
