No, not a hat. But rather a very rare antique central Asian Ersari Turkoman / Turkmen silk embroidered and gilded studs carpet comb cover dating to 19th century. Weaving was the quintessential art of the Turkoman people and the tools used were so valued that they covered them with this outstanding silk embroidered covers. This is one of only a handful of examples i have seen. The embroidery is classic of the Ersari silk work with boxed bird motifs in red against pistachio green adorned with studs. The bottom parts have profile eagle designs in chainstitch, repeating in alternating colours. It is finished with polychrome flat stitch. The same design repeats on the backside with slight alternating colours. It has an Ikat lining. In good overall shape with some minor / unnoticeable abrasion of embroidery in tiny areas. It’s a really rare textile that would add nicely to any collection. size: 24cm x 17cm (9.5cm x 6.5cm). For inquiries please email directly to: istalificollections@outlook.com.
