Back
a visually dazzling antique Uzbek silk on silk nim suzani from Shahrisabz region dating to early 1900’s. It is fine silk chain stitched on a chequered silk ground. I’m not sure but these silk fabrics could have been some sort of tie dye all silk Ikat. One rarely sees a silk on silk Suzani on this fabric type, which makes this piece quite unique. The design is in the mihrab form with repeating botehs as the central motif. The hot colours (indicative of early 1900’s) really brings out the design. It is lined with a Russian cotton floral. In a very good shape and offered at a reasonable price. Much nicer in person. size: 135cm x 98cm. For inquiries please email directly to: istalificollections@outlook.com.
