a magnificent antique Syrian Aleppo silk and gold/silver metallic tapestry weave bag from late 19th century - early 1900’s. An extremely rare and fine textile boasting an elegant floral design surrounded by shrub and lantern motifs, all of which from classic motifs of the genre. The same design repeats on both sides but in alternating colour format. The gorgeous natural dyes boast a soft blue, a rich red and pistachio green, soft yellow and black. It has a wonderful silk tassel and and spun cotton string draw closure. In mint condition and worthy of any top collection. Offered at a fair price. Size of the bag = 17.5cm x 13.5cm (7” x 5.5”). The tassel extends an extra 11.5cm (4.5”) and the strings 19cm (7.5”).
