An outstanding antique gold appliqué and silver Turkoman / Turkmen Yomut / Yomud tribe talismanic pendant bridal jewellery ornament known as Acar Bag. Dating to the late 19th century / early 1900’s, this bridal jewellery was part of the bridal outfit and worn like a talisman in a chain to bring protection and prosperity for her future of her family. Inside it contains sacred texts. They were often very cherished jewellery items and thus very rare to find. This particular example is exceptional. It is made of gold and silver with polychrome glass inlay (an indication of earlier examples). The design is very archaic. Notice the elegant rams horn motifs with intricate ornaments surrounding it. Ok too three larger rams horn finishes the pendant. As good as many published examples and unlike many later replicas flooding the market. a real gem worthy of good collections. In mint condition. Offered at a reasonable price. Size: 8.5cm x 6.5cm (3.5” x 2.5”).
