Antique Yomud Soumac Bag, ca. 1875; 1’5” x 2’10” / 43 x 86.4 cm Field populated by interlocking figures, linked diamonds and angled cruciform. Each cruciform contains four rams-heads with one diamond- “eye”each. Upper and lower borders drawn with squares divided on the diagonal with small spirals. Side borders show reciprocal rams horns set in triangles, divided by a dotted zigzag. a red-violet madder plain weave border at the perimeter and elem. Remnants of red/indigo fringes, and barber-pole selvedge wraps. Very slight surface wear to front; some tiny moth bites in the plain woven and small reddish stains in the back panel.
