Glanz Der Himmelssohne: Kaiserliche Teppiche Aus China, 1400 – 1750 by Michael Franses and Hans Konig. (In English the title of this book basically translates to "Splendor of The Sons Of Heaven: Imperial Carpets From China, 1400 - 1750”.) The book features detailed analysis of 68 very old and iconic Chinese carpets - all in exceptional condition for their age - from various carpet weaving regions of China and various individual collections. Main text is in German by two renowned experts in the field, with a 6 page essay in English at the end of the book by Elena Tsareva, and 12 pages of detailed bilingual notes covering the technical aspects of all the featured rugs. Even if one does not speak German, the book is worth having for the magnificent photos and the detailed technical analyses of each rug. Soft cover edition, originally published in 2005, with 227 pages and 156 colour illustrations, with many of the magnificent carpet photos full page. The book itself is in excellent condition with very minor, almost negligible, shelf ware. Cost is a mere 50 Euros plus trackable postage, which is 22 Euros to most European countries, and the United Kingdom.
