An antique Salyan Shirvan rug, sw Caucasus. 185 cm x 125 cm. This extraordinary and charismatic rug shows a central Fachralo medallion, flanked by four Akstafa peacocks. Three hexagonal Bordjalou shield motifs are placed at each end of the rug. Also the bold, contrasting main border in blue and ivory is often found in Bordjalou rugs. Although worn thin in the central area, this does not diminish the stunning effect of an extraordinary and unusual composition.
