Kilim woven in two pieces patterned with 10 bands containing double niche saf type motifs/designs, Central Anatolia, 155 x 370cm, before 1800, published in Early Turkish Tapestries, by B.Frauenknecht,pl 39, 1984. The infilling motifs on the white ground have been colored in such a way as to impart a lively, playful character to the kilim as a whole. When one compares these images with those in Frauenknecht, one can see areas that have been subsequently restored ( especially the black areas).
