Wonderful and extremely rare embroidered Dhal shield cover from Northern Indian, what is now Pakistan. Very fine vibrant colours and intricate decoration. drawn tight at the back with leather thong, and still enclosing its original rhino hide shield. Small size buckler. Four holes at the front allow the shield bosses to protrude without damaging the embroidery.19th century
