Qashqa'i Gabbeh, Mid 19th Century. Beautiful saturated colors including a rich purple in one of the serrated borders. Two human figures woven into the field. The design forms a mihrab or prayer rug-like design with a serrated inner border finishing at the side corners of one of the end diamonds. It's precision suggests a deliberate prayer function, which is unusual. Mounted on fine linen. 152 x 225 cm.
