Pre-Columbian bag. a.d. 1000 - 1400. a very large, ceremonial coca bag (17" x 11") with fantastic creatures that are different on each face of the bag. This rare mixed technique tapestry and patterned warp faced weave composition is from the Ichma Culture of Peru. These Ichma textiles utilize an unusual combination of tapestry techniques which are only found in this rare group of bags. See the link below to view another fragmented example of this type of bag on my pages which has unusually great color. It is currently mounted behind a Plexi cover that allows both faces can be seen at one time.. http://rugrabbit.com/node/184692
