An early n.w. Persian, Kurdish small rug 3'4" x 5'8" Ca.1800 An amazingly graphic design, beautiful early drawing of all the different designs in the rug. Folks familiar with this sort of material would immediately appreciate the really early version of the main border design. Please note one of my favorite colors in eastern weavings, initially like most people i was attracted to purples, beautiful greens, reds, yellows, light blues and burnt orange colors in the weavings from this region of the world. i have dealt with such weavings and some interesting early rugs from this specific part of north Iran. After handling and studying some really beautiful Kurdish rugs for years, i am starting to notice and am really fond of this bright bubble gum Pink. The rug is in as found condition, superficially cleaned. i am personally able to look beyond its condition. i really appreciate and admire the drama of this piece that the weaver was so successfully able to capture. i have truly and thoroughly enjoyed this rug during the long cold winter last year in New Hampshire. i completely understand that this rug is not for everyone, it is definitely for me. i still get goose bumps with excitement after staring at it for a short while. i find this to be a very amusing creature. All dyes are from vegetal origin. The oatmeal color in the field seems to me as not dyed animal hair. i took a brief absence from this business due to untimely death of my best friend Allen Israel of Middlebury,Vt. This time away from all things material gave me opportunity to reflect upon how short of a time we all have on this planet and vulnerable we all are. i am posting this for everyone to enjoy and possibly learn something. i did very seriously consider never ever returning to this field or business for some. Its due to a handful of people who have too much time on their hands. i am selling this rug so i can find some new exciting rug. Please don't bother writing me insulting and embarrassing emails. Enjoy the rug if you like it, move on, if you don't, buy it if you like it as much as i do.
