Antique Calcha poncho from Bolivia. Late 19th century or very early 20th century. Finely woven. All wool. Beautiful colors, which are probably natural, except some of the randa embroidery, which seems to have had some replaced or added at a later date. Good condition for age with some small holes, abrasions(especially in one corner, See the ninth photograph.), edge wear, fringe loss and minor stains. The main color may have be a red, which has been over dyed with a black or dark brown. There is some minor abrash or fading in this background color. The diamond embroidery at the randa seam is traditional, but i believe some of it has been replaced at a later date. The yarn type and colors are different. If you would like more photographs, please message me. Size: 68 -1/4” wide x 49 -1/2” long at centers; neck opening is 12-1/4” long, but there is about 1” of the randa seam thread, which is missing.
