Antique late 19th century / early 20th century Kirshehir yastik rug. Beautiful colors with a cochineal field and purple accents. All colors are probably natural. Woven with an average knot count of 84 knots per square inch. Wool pile on wool foundation. In good condition for its age with some wear from brown corrosion. Some small repairs to sides and ends. There is small area of orange knots in a corner motif that may be later, but there is a natural orange in the borders. Some corner loss. Some kilim end on one end. Back was covered with some sort residue. It is probably some sort of latex backing applied to keep it from slipping. This was common around 1900. The rug is very flexible, and i haven't tried to remove it. Recently cleaned and not used since cleaning. See photographs, which were taken outdoors on a sunny day without a flash.
