a fantastic small ningxia rug from the first half of the 18th century. beautiful presence of the early light blue in the middle field. the design element, shown as main image, just above a dark blue bat is quite unique, i haven t seen this in another ningxia. it is strangly reminiscent of those elements seen in the field of the well known Dohktar-i-Ghazi prayer rugs, but surely it has nothing to do with that. top quality wool as usually seen on these early ninxia. the rug is complete but with some corroded area in the brazil wood back ground color. it looks quite good in the flesh as these areas showing the white ground cotton foundation are always strongly reflecting the light on the pics...
