Extremely Fine 19th c. Shahsevan Kelim / circa 1850 Size: 90 cm. x 215 cm. (3' x 7') There are not many Shahsevan kelims that were woven this finely; it has a "saltillo like" handle. Red and all the colors are deeply saturated! It has that old brown that has an aubergine quality to it. Good condition, some minor stains to the white, (one side better than the other); it doesn't distract from the beauty of the piece, which is really quite old. There were a few very small, half dollar size, old re-weaves that i have redone and are not easily noticed...lovely textile! ;-)) Possibly older than mid century ...?
