Late 19th Century Caucasian Rug 3.5 Ft. x 5 Ft. This is the type of textile well-suited for wall display. Essentially the attributes that make this Caucasian rug so attractive are all still there except now they are over 100 years old, well used and worn. The pile is very low. The 1" by 1-1/2" patch on one corner (see photo 7) is not well done and the newer side bindings makes me think there is a border missing on either side. It does have the original guard borders with some of the knotted warp fringe plus a very pleasing design and a painting like size. It measures 45" (114 cm) by 62" (157 cm).
