Japanese silk shinto banner dated 1862, praise to Inara the God of Nature with the name of the donor and date. This kind of banner is fixed to a bamboo pole with a small horizontal pole at the top and is placed in front of the shinto shrine and a ceremony in the form of a large circle of people takes place around it. Semi transparent silk in a beautiful light blue indigo, orange silk straps with different protector stitches, some weathering but generally excellent condition for its age. 250x37cms
