Enigmatic Baluch weaving. Probably a Poshti but perhaps some other sort of bag or bridge. It is symmetrically knotted using a design repertoire more commonly seen in flat-woven pieces. The colors are rich and saturated and the weaving has a soft handle. Warps and wefts seem to be of a similar mix of dark goaty wool. i would like to think that i am familiar with Baluch weavings but haven't seen anything quite like it. My sense is that it is from Afghanistan and has some age. There is some repair in the top portion that may be seen in the back image. Size is 35" x 28".
