Ladik Prayer rug. Before 1800. 100x200cm, mounted on linen. The great age of this magnificient rug is confirmed, apart from the iconographics, by the colors. The deep stone-red of the 'ocak'( the middle part, representing the fire burning in the heart of the worshipper ) does not anymore occur even in 19th.c.items. Neither does the yellow, as vibrant now as it was then. The wear and damage of this rug was caused by long use for its original purpose.
