Back
Antique Indian Embroidered Wedding Shawl or “odhni” from the Thar Desert region near Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. Approximately 78 x 48 inches. The background cloth is 2 strips of brick red handloomed wool cloth (probably camel wool) that have been sewn together lengthwise. The shawl is embroidered mostly in cross stitch and satin stitch in white, yellow, blue and green wool thread. There’s a little light staining near the center of the shawl, and a small nip visible at one end, otherwise in good condition. These shawls on wool are somewhat rarer than similar shawls on handloomed cotton. An attractive piece of Indian Rajasthani embroidery that will look terrific displayed on your wall, draped across a sofa, or worn on a cold winter’s night. Price includes shipping in the us.
